The Child right

The Child Right

Children are the future. The whole humanity starts with a child. Every adult today; the statesman, business leader, poet, clergy or whoever looks like an authority was once a vulnerable, clueless, helpless child.
We all start out as a dependant; first on our parents who bring us to the earth, nurture us and then we rely on teachers who give us knowledge, government to provide infrastructure to thrive and express ourselves, and then the society to reward us for services we provide.
Developed families and societies create a right environment and ambience  for the child to grow with great love and attention provided for his/her needs. it therefore becomes a very surprising irony when children are subjected to violence and abuse.
According to a survey in 2014 by the National Population Commission with support from United Nations Children's Education Fund (UNICEF) and the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, 6 out of 10 Nigerian children experience at least one of these forms of violence (physical, emotional or sexual) before they reach 18 years old.
Mohammed Fall Unicef Representative in Nigeria while marking the 2017 United Nation Children's Day tagged 'Child Protection and the Sustainable Development Goals' said 'Each one of us is responsible for creating a world where children feel safe, protected and empowered to speak up for themselves.
